4. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING
The minutes of the last meeting were not
brought along and, therefore, could not be approved. It was
agreed that minutes would be circulated via the Internet
site/e-mail newsletter.
5. WELCOME
The chairman welcomed new faces to the
meeting.
6. CREDIT CARD FRAUD - BOB YORK -
BARCLAYCARD
Bob York gave a slideshow presentation
and answered many questions about how credit card fraud is
carried out. He passed around real conterfeit cards that had
been confiscated and the equipment used to read or alter the
magnetic stripe. Details about anti-copying features such as
the 'flying v' or 'mc' and the microprinting around the visa
logo were explained, as was the significance in the increase
in counterfeit activities.
7. CHAIRMAN'S REVIEW
The one way system has the go
ahead
Doug had received a letter re: the
businesswatch scheme
Funding for the sport's centre had been
approved
8. ANY OTHER BUSINESS
David Kerr ran through a few
points:
- Hoardings at 15-17 Church St are to
go.
- David said he is looking for recruits
for the Businesswatch Scheme
- The Tidy Britain study showed that
cleaning was an issue in Crystal Palace
- CCTV will be installed by the end of
April
- Grants for buildings &endash; all the
money has been allocated.
- The East London line will be coming
to Crystal Palace and the Tramlink is next. There will be
a bus terminus at Anerley Hill. Crystal Palace station
refurb has been delayed due to the weather but will be
completed end of April.
- David encouraged members of the
Chamber to make use of the information boards around the
triangle.
- Croydon Advertiser want to do a
feature on Crystal Paalce
- The radio security company have,
unfortunately not been very helpful. Safeways will
hopefully have better lighting to encourage people to
park there at night.
- Meetings with the Triangle Trader's
Association had not gone as well as hoped, there had been
some disagreements over parking/deliveries issues
- 3-13 Church Road has increased
tenfold in value to £850K even though it lies
derelict. Café Rouge might go in there. 22 Westow
Hill will be restored back to 1814 conditions and will be
a tea rooms with a carvery.
