4. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT The proposed closure of the Gypsy Hill Police Station may now be under review. Four police forces are involved in monitoring the area. The perception of the proposed closure is that it will release officers. Crime especially in the evenings was getting worse. Crime in the area was on the increase and CCTV will not alter this Joanna's owned by John Ellner and Hanover Park had their windows 'etched' by 'graffiti artists'. David Kerr and the Chairman had both been 'mugged'. Groups seemed to be patrolling the area look for opportunities to carry out crime. The Keep Britain Tidy campaign had prepared a report on litter in the area. The Christmas lights were now going up. Croydon had finished, Lambeth and Bromley had still to complete putting up their lights.
